Salary: Base salary $110-120 + bonus 20% to 45%. The bonus has an excellent track record and paid at the target of 20% for 2009. Qualifications: Multiple site manufacturing plant and distribution center experience.
Experience with organizing distribution and logistics to meet customer demand.
Experience with materials scheduling and coordination of distribution and logistics to meet customer demand.
Use of Lean manufacturing tools to improve and eliminate waste in the distribution and logistics processes.
Experience with consolidation of inventories.
Experience with implementation and use of an ERP system.
Ability to influence and guide materials managers at plant locations on a dotted-line basis.
Hands-on ability with distribution and logistics, but capable of development of associates to manage all daily activities.
The position is a key corporate leadership role and the right candidate needs to have successful leadership experience.
Duties: Large, multi plant, high volume sheet metal fabrication, stamping and assembly division. Well run operation. Strong parent company. Responsible for Materials, Distribution and Purchasing. Between $400 and $500 million annual sales volume. Travel is required, but the plants are all in North America.
The company is a $500 million subsidiary of a large multi-billion dollar global corporation. They manufacture steel-based components used in the HVAC industry. The company has multiple manufacturing and distribution sites in the USA. The company headquarters is located in SW Michigan.
The position, Director of Materials and Distribution, is a corporate level position with dotted-line oversight of materials operations at the plant level. The position is also directly responsible for all distribution and logistics operations at the distribution sites. The company has indicated that they prefer a very strong distribution and logistics background with some level of knowledge and background in materials. The distribution and logistics background of a candidate is much more important to the company than the materials experience.
