Qualifications: Personal Skills & Requirements:
Bachelors degree in Business, Operations, or Materials Management
A minimum of 5 years experience in a combination of purchasing, scheduling, & production planning in a manufacturing environment (experience in steel or steel fabrication industries a plus)
Certification by APICS or CPIM desirable, MRP knowledge demonstrated
Lean manufacturing experience and/or training highly desirable
Technically savvy - strong knowledge of Microsoft Word, Excel, Access and Computerized MRP system.
Demonstrated competence in cost reduction and process improvement.
Strong business acumen and logical problem solver
Experience with Sales & Operations Planning
Superior organizational skills

Duties: Responsible for overall management of production planning, supplier performance and inventory reduction leveraging purchasing and planning experience combined with the development of system tools, applying lean manufacturing principles, performance measurement and modeling to optimize customer order fill rate and specific work capital/inventory objectives. Reports to VP and General Manager.

Specific responsibilities include:
1. Production Planning:
Establish the overall production plan consistent with customer orders and requirements and confers with sales and production to resolve scheduling issues.
Develop and maintain the material planning and control processes
Issue Purchase Orders to suppliers in support of the production plan and inventory objectives
Advise management of capacity issues related to manufacturing and machinery constraints
Review and update planning parameters

2. Inventory Management:
Determine inventory requirements and establish min/max levels and recorder points to achieve aggressive inventory turns objectives without causing disruption to work flows and customer delivery requirements
Maintain accurate inventory count by using weekly cycle counts.
Reduce 'WIP' work in process by leveraging the use of Kanban

3. Supplier Management
Establish supplier controls and monitor supplier performance
Prepare and evaluate supplier project bids for price and delivery ensuring customer requirements are met.
Accountable to manage supplier relationships and advising GM, Corporate Sourcing and Sales of issues, opportunities and category trends in the marketplace that may impact the business.
Seamless communication of supply challenges within the organization
Maintain Vendor price lists

4. Organizational Leadership & Management
As assigned, manage projects to support inventory analysis, capacity analysis, turns improvement, long range planning
Contribute to the development and implementation of a S&OP model
Participate in new project launches
Develop and maintain relevant reports, databases and spreadsheets
Interacts across all organizational levels of internal operations
Responsible for setting goals and objectives within your responsibility to support company objectives
Manage direct reports (1-2). Carry out supervisory responsibilities in accordance with the organizations policies and applicable laws.
